KAMIG is a medium-sized, successful and independent private company: a viable company that responsibly processes non-renewable natural raw materials such as kaolin, quartz sand and clay by means of reservoir-friendly production.
Kamig’s main strength is flexibility! We are able to react quickly to changes in environmental and market conditions and make continuous investments to equip the company with modern equipment.
The only currently known kaolin deposits in Austria in which mining is worthwhile are located in Upper Austria, on the southern edge of the ‘Bohemian Massif’ in the Schwertberg area. Both of KAMIG’s mining plants are located in the lower Mühlviertel between Tragwein, Allerheiligen and Mauthausen.
The main plant is located in Kriechbaum where kaolin and quartz sand are mined while in Mistlberg kaolin for the brick industry is extracted. Administration and part of the kaolin processing are located in Aisthofen near Schwertberg, due to its proximity to railway connections. The large storage capacity (up to 8,000 t at Aisthofen) ensures that we can flexibly serve our customers.
KAMIG has had its own quality assurance system for decades. Samples are regularly taken, the quality parameters of which are examined in our own laboratory.
